Tuesday, 3 December 2019

Erhart Motorsport - an exciting new addition to Queensland’s Sprintcar racing scene - will make its much anticipated 2019/20 racing debut this weekend at Ausdeck Archerfield Speedway. Team owner and manager Laurie Erhart is excited by the challenge of creating his own operation after being such an integral part of the success of his family's GW Racing team for many years. "Thanks to Graham and Wendy, racing has been a way of life for me, and it’s great to be able to draw on all that experience in building a brand-new team around one of Queensland's most exciting young Sprintcar drivers, Cody Maroske, " he said. The 26-year-old Gold Coast charger is brimming full of confidence as he prepares for his new challenge, after already bagging a couple of podium finishes so far in his short career. "Personally, I'm aiming for a Top 10 finish first up and eventually running as a Top 5 contender on SEQ tracks this season, " he said. The Erhart Motorsport race car will proudly carry Q5 again on its tail this season and feature eye-catching orange and white warpaint, a swag of new corporate partner’s together with a host of long-term race team backers.

"Right from the get-go, we have both been committed to establishing a professionally run, commercially focussed and highly competitive race team, Laurie said. "And we are delighted that has resulted in bringing some big-name new brands to speedway racing." "SP Tools - a strong supporter of all sorts of motorsport from Karts to Supercars - are with us this season, together with Shane Moroney and KAWANA, and Mobil 1 thanks to Terry McCarthy and East Coast Lubes." Team Navy is also back on board as is Alex Rich and Toowoomba's Maxo Telecommunications who have backed Erhart race teams for the past 10 years. "We've also received fantastic support from HSV - which is a brand that really did as much as anything to fire my passion for a career in motoring & motorsport, Laurie said.

Cody Maroske has also brought with him some pretty long-term racing partners too - his parents Garry and Vicki through their business Beenleigh Brakes and Mufflers, Gary from Woodeson Excavation and Precision Powder Coating all based on the Gold Coast. The race car will comprise a Cool Chassis with the FlyLite 2020 composite fibre body kit and will be powered by Inglis Race Engines under the watchful eye of crew chief Brandon Ikenberry - one of the most experienced US Sprintcar mechanics on the American World of Outlaws tour. "Brandon's been coming Down Under for the past 16 Summers and we are so lucky to have him spinning the SP Tools for us in our first season, " Laurie said . He'll have his hands full as Erhart Motorsport faces a busy schedule over the next few months. In addition to the local East Coast Logistics and USC track championships, the team will enter the World Series Sprintcar rounds and then head interstate to compete at the Nationals in Sydney, the Presidents Cup at Avalon, the Kings Challenge in Mount Gambier and then the big one - the Warrnambool Classic over the Australia Day Weekend. "You've got to take a big jump to mix-it with the best drivers and race cars from across Australia and some of the best from the US, and we're really looking forward to taking up that challenge over the summer, '' Cody said. Fans will get their first chance to see the all new-look Q5 Racecar in action this Saturday night at Archerfield Speedway and next weekend in Toowoomba at Hi-Tec Oils Speedway.
