CREATING FAKE DOCUMENTS IS A CRIME

It is illegal to create, use, or possess fake drivers' licences or passport documents in Australia. These actions constitute serious criminal offences under both state/territory and Commonwealth laws and can result in severe penalties, including hefty fines and imprisonment for up to 10 years or more.

Commonwealth Offences (e.g., Passports)
Offences related to Australian travel or identity documents are covered by Commonwealth law, primarily the Criminal Code Act 1995.
Making, providing, or possessing a false travel or identity document carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $110,000.
Passport fraud, such as creating or submitting false or misleading documents is a serious offence punishable by up to 10 years in jail.

State/Territory Offences (e.g., Drivers' Licences)
Offences involving state-issued documents like drivers' licences are covered by state or territory legislation, such as the Crimes Act 1958 (Vic) or Crimes Act 1900 (NSW).
Falsification of documents (making, using, or possessing a false document with intent to deceive) can attract maximum penalties of up to 10 years imprisonment.
Using a fake driver's licence (even for minor purposes like buying alcohol or entering a licensed venue) can result in significant fines and potential imprisonment, depending on the circumstances.

Identity Fraud
If the fake documents are created or used with the intention of committing identity fraud or another serious indictable offence (e.g., financial fraud, opening bank accounts), the penalties become much more severe.
Dealing with identification information (which includes making or supplying it) with the intent to commit a serious offence carries a penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment.
Possessing equipment for the purpose of making fake identification documents to facilitate an indictable offence can result in up to 3 years imprisonment.

Forgery & False Documents
Creating documents with false statements to gain financial advantage or influence decisions is a crime under the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW), Section 253 (Forgery) and 307C (False Documents).
Creating fake invoices in Australia is illegal and considered serious fraud, often falling under tax evasion, forgery, or making false documents, with severe penalties including large fines and imprisonment, as it's used to dishonestly claim tax deductions, GST credits, or obtain financial advantages, actively targeted by the ATO and Serious Financial Crime Taskforce (SFCT).

Australian law treats the creation and use of fake identification documents very seriously, with the potential for substantial fines and long-term imprisonment, especially if linked to wider criminal activity.
